7/28/06 –It’s been about a month since our last update so we figured we’d shed some light on what we’ve been working on.  Get ready for a long update, folks.

Firstly, although Apollo isn’t done, we’re starting to see that light at the end of the tunnel.  The effects work has proved to be more of a challenge than we had hoped for, but that’s okay.  We’re confident you will be pleased with the results.

In the last update, we featured some thumbnail previews of the film.  Now that we’re in post, we thought we’d share a sample of the effects work we’re doing.  This is not the finalized version but merely a rough version of the footage with some minor color correction applied.

The top image is a slightly contrast-corrected version of the raw footage, the middle image is the post-blurred background matte and the bottom image is the rough composite.

This was the worst-lit clip as far as our green screen work goes due to a lack of lights so we tackled that one first.  We’re quite pleased with the results.

So what else?  Well, Dan’s been doing some 3d model tests for the trailer/dvd material.  Below are a few sample frames from the renders.

Our target completion date has come and gone, but the film is looking better than we imagined.  The new goal is mid-September.

Next on the agenda has nothing to do with Apollo.  Daniel Skubal has been working in association with Noa/Rice Digital as the graphic designer for a film project called “Smuggler’s Ransom” (http://www.smugglersransom.com).   Daniel designed the poster seen on the left, along with a 3D effects render and minor title work both featured in the trailer.

Lastly, we’re still having issues with our hosted e-mail address so if you need to contact us, please use copple@gmail.com as our temporary e-mail address.  This concludes the big update.  Keep checking back on the page for more updates on Apollo and other projects.
